The Platform's primary research objectives are to 1) resolve the structure and function of extracellular matrix and cell-matrix adhesions, 2) explore their implications in human diseases, and 3) develop strategies for disease prevention and treatment. The extracellular matrix makes up over a third of body mass and is indispensable for multicellular organisms. Understanding the reciprocal relationship between cells and the matrix is pivotal to resolve vertebrate development, healthy ageing, and the mechanisms underlying tissue dysfunction in chronic diseases.
Our organisation places significant emphasis on investing in research culture, recognising its pivotal role in fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence. By fostering a robust research culture, we aim to not only drive scientific discovery but also nurture the personal and professional growth of our members, ultimately enriching the overall research experience within our organisation.
This Gateway hosts articles from researchers associated with the Wellcome Discovery Research Platform for Cell-Matrix Biology.
